Fruit of the Spirit

Students name the nine fruit of the Spirit and can say what one of them looks like in the way they treat a classmate.

Students will be able to:

• List the nine fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22–23
• Give a classroom example of one fruit in action
• Recite the verse from memory

Change the title and the printable letters regenerate to match it.

   Step 1 — Prepare the background

   Cover the board in pale blue or cream. A tree needs sky behind it, not another green.

   Step 2 — Add the title

   Run FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT across the top.

   Step 3 — Fix the trunk

   Tape the trunk sheets together at the back and fix the trunk centred, rising from the bottom third of the board.

   Step 4 — Build the canopy

   Join the four canopy sheets behind the board, then fix the whole canopy over the top of the trunk so the join is hidden.

   Step 5 — Place the nine fruit

   Spread the fruit across the canopy so none touches another. Nine is an awkward number — put four along the top, four in the middle and self-control on its own at the bottom centre.

   Step 6 — Add the labels and the verse

   One label on each fruit. Then tape the two verse sheets together and run the verse across the bottom under the trunk.

7. 7

   Step 7 — Add the cards and border

   Pin the nine what-it-looks-like cards down the right side, one per fruit, and finish with the leaf border.

What students do

1. Notice a classmate showing one of the nine.
2. Write their name and the fruit on a blank slip.
3. Pin it to the branch strip.
4. Tell them you did.

For the teacher: Read a few out at the end of the week. Clear the strip each half term so it never becomes a wall of names nobody reads.
